The Holodeck made real

If you’re a fan of Star Trek then you have been waiting for this moment ever since you saw the pilot episode of The Next Generation. No? Just me then. But Sony have recreated what looks like a holographic environment. Well not quite, but it is one of the coolest usages of projection mapping I seen since watching Amon Tobin’s ISAM tour at the Round House!

Fred Perry Specials VIP Party

Kash were asked to cover the recent Fred Perry Specials VIP party at Alexandra Palace. The gig, put together by The Tailor of Shorditch, was full of very cool characters and our camera man, Anthony Dean, captured the event beautifully with his Canon 5D and slider.

The Nicest Place on the Internet?

That’s what this site aims to be – swing by for your free, seemingly unending, hugs.

In an internet world full of much strife and pessimism this site’s creators, Jeff Lam and Lauren Perlow, have decided to give you the nice. “We’d like to turn the sad into happy and the happy into a celebration.”

Once you’ve gorged yourself on the happy hugs of strangers you can put your own up too. Awwwww. It certainly got me smiling. And then I puked, through both mouth and nose.

Simple Harmonic Motion

We’ve been recently looking into creating some projects merging visual artists with programmers and scientists. This is all just at the talking stage, but hopefully we will posting some interesting projects soon. This is all happening at our sister site and experimental LAB, kashblack.com

Mehmet has been a big influence on our thinking. His projects look visually simple compared to the usual VJ style of chaotic montage, this gives them a beauty found often in design but rarely in video art. This work is a lot more than that as in encompasses programing that initiates music making. Very forward thinking. His work was shown this august at Ron Arad’s Curtain Call festival at The Roundhouse in Camden.

From the blog of visual audio artist Mehmet S. Akten (aka Memo). Some really nice programmed moves to generate audio and visuals simultaneously. He’s got loads of other interesting projects here: http://www.msavisuals.com/

Kash James Morrison Docs

Kash are very proud of the recent series of short documentaries we made to accompany the release of James Morrison’s latest UK number 1 selling album, The Awakening. This summer we spent the weekend with James in Porth, Cornwall where he grew up, visiting his old stomping grounds and friends. The films are a rare insight into the various influences and experiences that helped shape him as an artist.

Not only are these films available online, but have been included as an exclusive extra if you buy the album at Tesco.

Check them out and let us know your thoughts!
